Rediscovery of the familiar is a central theme in my work. Through daily walks around San Francisco, I practice paying close attention to the places I know, observing the subtle shifts in light and color throughout the year. In this process, I study the nature of light and begin to understand the forms of the city. My paintings are not photographic records of locations, but instead memories of quiet moments in the city. Focusing on these everyday moments, rather than on iconic landmarks, lends my paintings a personal intimacy.
