My work often depicts people caught in urban scenes, absorbed in the moment, whether in contemplation or conversation. They may be casually conversing in a restaurant, or caught in the middle of work, their figures bathed in soft light. Through portraiture, in particular self-portraits, I present a more intimate view of the figure.  Although the figures in these paintings may look away from the viewer, they provide a context for connection and convey the energy of urban life.
